For Ag awareness day Tristen and Gannon talked about farm machines and how they are used and what they are used for. They brought in a tractor from a family member Derek Haines. The kids got to sit in the tractor to see how it looks and how it feels. Izzy and Steven talked about drones for Ag awareness day. They discussed the used of drones in agriculture and in other aspects of the community. The kids asked several questions about the topic and seemed very interested. Frank and Kaelin talked about fire in agriculture and teaching the kids about the tools and trucks used in fires. Wyatt and Braden talked about small animals and how to care for them. They showed how to walk your dog and appropriately groom them. Double-tap to edit. Chisolm and Dalton talked about different types of animal furs and antlers for Ag awareness day. They also talking about hunting and trapping. They gave great facts about their furs and the history of game animals. A great day with the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders! The Agriscience class was learning about Beef Cattle under the instruction of Ms. Ebert. A large part of learning about animal and livestock care is to learn about animal handling. Animal Handling facilities include holding pens, alleyways, and chutes. The class made a design of their facility, build the facilities from cardboard, styrofoam, and popsicle sticks, and then wrote a paper explaining the functions of the facilities. To get a "real" experience how their facility would do, the class ran rats through the facilities. (Above) Brooke Larsen, Cole Lacey, and Dalton Bechtle created this model that incorporated a tub system. (Above) Amber Walbeck, Braden Reed, and Mikaela Baker created this model with a squeeze chute. (Above) Chisolm Woodson, Wyatt Lingenfelter, Mary Engle create a curved system. Students built these models following a tour to Burkdoll and Lacey’s farms. |
